About the library
Welcome to the Gouri Devi Institute of Medical Sciences & Hospital (GIMSH) Central Library, which was inaugurated in early 2016, is at the forefront to adopt latest IT technologies using Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to support learning and teaching.
Location and Facilities
It is housed on the 2nd floor of the college building .Central library has 1827 sq. m. of floor area spread over on one floor with provision for different sections .The central library consists of the Stack room, Journal section, air-conditioned Students reading room, separate Staff reading room, Internet MEDLARS room, Audio-visual unit, Reprography room, Circulation counter, Rooms for Librarian and other staff, Daftaries and Book binders, Skill lab etc. The stack room is air-conditioned with CCTV surveillance.
Library collection in the Stack room has 3,662 text books and reference collection. Periodical section currently subscribes 21 Indian and Foreign Journals as on 3.11.2016. The users are provided reading and photocopy facilities.

More nos. of books, journals, CD/DVDs and other materials required for the central library will be added very soon.
The library has started open access and developed it’s resources & collection required for the medical user community of the institution. The entire collection is decided to be electronically classified through ‘Koha’- open source library administration software with a suitable classification scheme. Present status of the library is well equipped by a flexible library system & trained library staff.
Very soon, Central Library is going to provide the Wi-Fi internet network facility, so that users can be accessed from personal laptops in the Library, on campus, and remotely. Provide Institutional repository by which users can access e-document remotely. Going to subscribe CD-ROM databases and e-library facilities also.
